Les Ross Sr.

Les Ross Sr. plays a distinctive, Finnish-Scandinavian-style harmonica music. Sometimes called "lumberjack music," it is an old-time style in which a melody and a pronounced, rhythmic chording and/or bass line are played simultaneously.
Ross is believed to be the only person in the Upper Peninsula who still plays this unusual style.
Ross is part of the University of Michigan Arts and Culture Apprenticeship Program, and, as part of that program, is passing his skills on Mark Hamari of Marquette.
